Dame Edna Tour Video

Hello possums!

It won't be long before Dame Edna's gorgeous final tour "Eat Pray Laugh" kicks off in Oz!  Non-entities around Australia will have their very lives transformed by the healing effect of Edna's presence on stage.  Lucky little darlings!  After seeing the world's favourite chat show host, royal confidante, and swami in her ground-breaking new show, the remainder of their dull, grey days are sure to be a huge disappointment. 

From the official tour website:

“So, Possums, please do come and say goodbye to me. It would be lovely to see your faces for the last time,” Dame Edna says.

“When you hear your grandchild's voice saying, ‘Grandma, did you see Dame Edna's farewell show?’ don't betray their faith in you. Say ‘yes darling! Many, many times!’”

During the all-singing, all-dancing spectacular, Dame Edna promises to “empower” audiences as she meditates on the big issues of gender, ethnicity and climate change.

“You will see me at the height of my powers, taking you on a wonderful spiritual journey you'll never forget. I'm not saying my show will heal you, but you'll certainly leave the theatre feeling considerably better for the experience.”

While Act One of Eat Pray Laugh! features Humphries with his friends, this really serves as “just a bit of foreplay really before I make an orgasmic appearance in Act Two”, Dame Edna says.

Are you in need of some help to shed a few pounds?  Is the sight of Sir Les Patterson not enough to put you off your food?

Worry not, possums!  As usual, our favourite housewife/megastar is coming to your rescue, showing you the way!  

Despite previously having plastic surgery so that she looks her age - having crow's feet inserted because she looked too young, and grafting one of Elizabeth Taylor's love handles onto her chin to give her a slightly heavier appearance - she has now decided that her adoring public need her assistance in their battle with the bulge.

And so with her friends at Jenny Craig in Australia, she will be losing weight ahead of her eagerly anticipated tour "Eat, Pray, Laugh!" down under.  As always, she'll be helping non-entities around the world as they follow her progress, providing the inspiration they need in their own pursuit of gigastar gorgeousness.

It's a day for the history books! Barry Humphries has announced his final tour of Australia, entitled "Eat Pray Laugh!". This landmark show will feature Dame Edna, Sir Les Patterson, and Sandy Stone, and is sure to have non-entities from around the country flocking to get a final glimpse of the glittering gorgeousness and megastar magic!

Barry Humphries has been named Australian of the Year in the UK for 2012. Ahead of the gala award dinner in London, Barry apparently had some inside information that the award would come his way, explaining "I had a friend very high up in the world of media who has been tapping the phones in Australia House for many years."

You little darlings!

You've been wondering how to add a bit of glitter and glamour to your dull lives this Chrissie, haven't you? What better way than to add some megastar magic to the holiday season in the form of the gorgeous Dame Edna Everage in pantomime at the New Wimbledon Theatre ? How fabulously festive, possums!!!

Here's a little behind the scenes look at rehearsals as we quickly approach opening night. Dame Edna's manager Barry Humphries is mysteriously at rehearsals, and as they don't tend to get along very well, it seems that Edna has chosen to excuse herself during the time he's there. Very wise too, as everyone knows he's extremely jealous of Edna's success, and is only after her squillions!!!

News just in that satirical magazine "The Oldie" has awarded Barry Humphries their 2011 "Oldie of the Year" award "for his wonderful split personality which has entertained us for so many years".

With the UK launch of "Handling Edna", Dame Edna and Barry Humphries have both been at the forefront of all aspects of the UK media these past few weeks, and more than a few revelations have been bubbling to the surface!

Perhaps most shocking is the fact that Edna's son Kenny is quite probably Frank Sinatra's lovechild! Goodness me, Possums! Could it be? Check out this clip from the BBC's "The One Show":





As her manager, Barry Humphries has been promoting the book everywhere, trying desperately to boost sales before Dame Edna's legal suit forces the book to be taken from stores and pulped. In fact, Barry says that fans should buy numerous copies, because if this happens, the book will be a collectors' items! Sounds like good advice!!!

Dame Edna has also recently conducted a Twinterview for Waterstones, during which we learned that she's in talks to make a film called "Slumdog Megastar", set in London's East End. It seems that Barry's tell-all book can't hold back the world's most popular and sought after woman. She's an international phenomenon that just can't be stopped!

And thank goodness for that!

My darlings, we're quivering with excitement! Barry Humphries' new book 'Handling Edna' is now available for pre-order in the UK! In October we brought you news of the book's release down-under, with an extract and interview with the great man himself.

Dame Edna at Sydney Opera House!

You little darlings!

We all know that the glitter of a gigastar is sure to brighten the Chrissie season!

So it seems that Dame Edna's possums in Australia will be flocking to the Sydney Opera House tonight for some seasonal megastar magic! They're in for a rare holiday treat - a gorgeous little show she's doing with Sir Les Patterson and Barry Humprhies, along with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Richard Tognetti.

It's unfortunate that Sir Les Patterson, Cultural Attache and Minister for the Yartz, will be there to spoil the holiday mood, but no doubt Edna will bring some gladi tidings to the stage and save the day!

The bonza buzz about Barry's book continues, Possums!

Following the launch of "Handling Edna" earlier this month, Barry has been a busy man promoting the book down under. As part of the promotional tour, he was recently a guest on several ABC radio programmes, and we thought you might enjoy hearing the interviews!

There were many revealing moments, including the news that Dame Edna had a dalliance or two with the likes of Frank Sinatra and Leonard Cohen some years ago. Goodness me! That's quite a departure from the life of a Moonee Ponds housewife! And yet, she's truly a woman of remarkable talents and charisma, so surely nobody can be surprised that some of the world's most famous men have found her wisteria locks alluring. (She still declares joyously that she is a woman who continues to have her drives and her juices flowing...)

There's also thrilling news in the ABC Sydney interview that Jennifer Aniston is likely to play Edna in a new film about her remarkable life! Isn't that gorgeous?!

Several days ago I promised a week full of electrifying and edifying Edna news, and here I am, you little darlings, with more headlines concerning our dazzling dame...

Today I'm thrilled to tell you that Barry Humphries has just released a new book in Australia called:

"Handling Edna - The Unauthorised Biography"!

It tells the story of the 'other' Barry Humphries - the Barry Humphries who is the man behind the gigastar - the manager who made it possible for the frumpy housewife from Mooney Ponds to become the international phenomenon we all know and love today.

Hatchette's official description of this fabulous new title reads:

Barry Humphries on Desert Island Discs!

Hello Possums! Hello Darlings!

This week we bring you news of Dame Edna's longtime 'manager' Barry Humphries, and a very exciting guest spot on the wireless! Barry is the celebrity guest on the most recent episode of BBC Radio 4's "Desert Island Discs".

Not to be outdone by Dame Edna (who, by the way, has been invited not once, but twice, to care and share with the Desert Island Discs audience!), Barry is a fantastic castaway, and shares some brilliant stories about his youth, and rise to fame around the world.

Ever with his finger on the pulse and a sly reference to Susan Boyle (of "Britain's Got Talent" fame), Barry says of Dame Edna...

" ....(she is a) shy, rather shrill, & dowdy woman...but we all know, don't we, that frumps can sometimes triumph!"

And of his epitaph, he seemingly channels Edna when he tells his host...

"I really would like an opportunity to write it myself. It would be pretty well a catalogue of excessive compliments..."
